The intro-
The LucasArts Lego partnership continues to expand with another Lego adaptation of one of the greatest adventure characters ever - Indiana Jones. Lego Indiana Jones covers the original three films and delivers all the Lego fun expected. The Lego formula of mixing nostalgia with a simple fun concept make for an easy going gaming experience, but with enough action, puzzling, quirky cut-scenes, and the solid sense of humor these games are known for make it interesting to casual and hardcore gamers alike. Plus it's Indiana Jones.

The good-
The graphics are exactly what you'd expect them to be - simple but they have all the Lego details needed, plus I don't think you can make a Lego block look any better with more polygons. John Williams classic score from the original films will have you wanting to pop in the original DVDs or VHS tapes, whichever you own. Like all Lego titles there are plenty of fun puzzles to figure out ranging in different levels of difficulty. Some are very straightforward while others will have you going WTF! for a minute or two. Replay value is high due to all the unlockable content from cut-scene videos, to playable characters. Most characters can be 'purchased' back at Barnett College, your home base. This is where all your data from game progress to unlocked items is stored. Of course one of the most important aspects of any Lego title is the drop in and out co-op option, which is always a blast. It is nice to see they aren't try to milk us by charging for co-op as downloadable content.

The Bad-
A complaint I had with the Lego Star Wars series was with the three dimensional depth of field in certain levels, I have the same complaint with Lego Indiana Jones. These levels appear "shallow" and it makes jumping from one surface to another incredibly annoying if you don't hit it just right. There is the always present 'co-op drag' - where if one player is moving along quicker than the other - the guy lagging will just get dragged across the screen. Sans a real person playing along the partner AI is a bit lame, and it can get very annoying at times when trying to do even the simplest of tasks. All in all the "AI" just tends to get in the way which can make some things very frustrating.  Like, I understand you're programmed to follow me everywhere, but not when you're literally getting in my way of jumping over a ravine.

The Ugly-
Not all that much ugliness going on with a Lego title that doesn't take itself too seriously.

The End-
Traveller's Tales and Lego have done it again, Lego Indiana Jones is another great entry in this growing genre. I think it helps that these games stories are backed by some of the greatest films ever made. I'd really like to see how a stand alone original Lego IP would do, which I hear they have a few in the pipeline. But for now I don't mind them riding high on the Star Wars, Indiana Jones and Batman titles because honestly they're all fun and combine great childhood memories with a fun, simple, and addictive gaming experience.
