Gmail Introduces The Official 8bit Theme, Even If They Don't Know It

Recently, the fine folks in Google's Gmail division (Yes, they are very nice. You should think so too, because they have all of our personal information. Let's treat them accordingly! ) released a new theme for the Gmail page called High Score. We haven't been able to verify this, but we think it may be a tribute to our humble blog. If anyone can confirm this, we'd love the ego boost. Otherwise, make the switch immediately. We're all doing it.

Top FPS

Top Chef / reality game show meets video games. A tad on the long side and GoW not exactly a FPS, but we'll let it slide. If you know the characters it's chuckle worthy. Master Chief in particular. [thanks dave]

Boston 8-bit Presents: Nintendo Music Thursday, Chiptune to Your Ears

Here's something we can get behind - especially if it's in our hometown. Boston 8-bit is a central location for finding out about Boston area chiptune/video game music happenings and artists. It's pretty amazing to hear what these artists are coming up with by just using classic 8bit sounds. It's probably not for everyone but definitely for those who have an attachment to those classic sounds. I know we do. If you're in the Beantown area tomorrow night, 10/8, Boston 8-bit is putting on a show at Felt in downtown. Not a bad venue to get some attention. Doors open at 8pm show starts at 9pm and will go to about 11:30pm or so. $8 cover but all proceeds go towards the artist which is always nice to hear. Show will feature Active Knowledge, Br1ght Pr1mate and Oxygenstar. Check out their myspace pages and visit www.boston8bit.com for more info on artists and upcoming shows.

[Reader Email] Farming Simulator Defended, Robots Aren't Real

Oh, I love the internet. So I received our first bit of 'hate email' last night. Yay for firsts huh? I guess I wouldn't call it 'hate email' since it made all of us here at the [8bit Office] laugh. It was more like a humorous email but really opinionated. Oh, and if you're wondering about the image above that is the best police sketch we could get of our 'humorous emailer.' So if you see someone matching the above image emailing someone - let him do his thing. He is in a way providing a service of instant laughs. Anyways, a few posts back we expressed our opinion in a Farming Simulator, which still stands by the way. Why we even posted about it in the first place - no idea. But apparently someone out there cares about their farming simulators. And decided to email us their discontent, which is fine. Everyone is entitled to their opinions. But one word of advice - if you're going to express your opinion about something and "tell someone off" at least have it make sense. The email plus my breakdown of said email after the break.

[8bit Impressions] X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Lately I've had a combination of nothing of interest to write about and just being plain out lazy. I'm hoping doing this [8bit Impression] will snap me out of it. It also helps that I have a night off of work and finally have a night to sit back and play some video games. I'm currently downloading the Wet demo for PS3 and drinking a Yuengling in between rounds of NHL 10. Almost a perfect night. Anyways, onto my impression of X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
