Halo, Dolly!

With the release of Halo: ODST, IGN has posted a video Halo in 5 minutes. You can brush up on the story line before you go out and buy your copy. I for one still have little clue as to what the hell is going on, even after the review. Good hunting.

Avatar Drop...What?

This is either the stupidest concept ever or the stupidest concept ever that is addictive to play. You can download Avatar Drop for free to your 360 and you basically just maneuver your Avatar as he helplessly plummets and crashes into things. What? Of course there is a competitive side to this and you can send your Avatar on a free fall against friends or some super intelligent AI. You can find this in the Indie Games section. I don't even want to download it in fear that I'll actually enjoy it. Because sadly that short trailer was kinda funny - in the sense of - ha that was funny. I wonder if we can let our Avatars plummet to their death in hopes of them going away.

GOW2: Dark Corners Multiplayer Map Screenshots

Just a couple of screenshots from the upcoming GOW2: Dark Corners DLC which looks to be available July 28th for a lowered price of $15 - so the rumors have it. All shots are multiplayer maps - seven to be exact including the one above entitled Memorial. The rest after the link, jump, break, etc....

Fight Night Round 4 First Impressions

Fight Night Round 4

So I took a break from playing Infamous for a bit and decided to head to the 360 to mix things up - yes, in my world that is 'mixing' it up. After coming to the conclusion that I didn't want to go to bed pissed off because I lost on a ridiculous, but always seems to occur last 10 sec, goal by the computer in NHL 08  - I decided to download the Fight Night Round 4 Demo. Now I really enjoyed Fight Night Round 3 and as a "first" next gen title it really came out swinging. Surprisingly, the 784MB download didn't take that long on my weak ass connection and before I knew it I was trading punches. The demo of course only gives you one fight - Manny 'Pac-Man' Pacquiao vs Some white dude. It's all you really need to get a sense of what's new with the fighting mechanic. Remember this is just a demo first impression not my full review...

Metal Gear Coming to Xbox 360

Metal Gear
Yes. You read right. Metal Gear is coming to the 360. I think we could all see this one coming, but now it's official. Konami announced Metal Gear Solid: Rising will be the first Metal Gear title to appear on an Xbox machine. The Hideo Kojima title will star Raiden as the main character. Not much else is known - I think this just popped up in the slew of Xbox 360 news that hit today at E3. They dropped some serious bombs and this is just another nail in the coffin. The only problem I see is if this is a typical Hideo Kojima Metal Gear title - get ready for a multi disc game - same goes for that small independent title Final Fantasy. Hey, Sony do you feel something just slipping away? No? Well you should. For more info keep an eye on the konami website.

Project Natal To Bring Controller Free Gaming to Xbox 360

Announced along with Steven Spielberg - what? - at E3 is "Project Natal" for the Xbox 360. The controller-less gaming of the future. Project Natal is an all in one device consisting of an RGB camera, depth sensor, multi-array microphone and a custom processor running proprietary software, that, unlike 2-D cameras and controllers, tracks your full body movement in 3-D, while responding to commands, directions and even shifts of emotion in your voice. Xbox's answer to the Wii - obviously. Sounds like it could be cool or a work out which I'm not really looking for when I play video games. That's the whole point of them - to be lazy but productive in some non-existent reality. Unlike the Wii's issues of people throwing their controllers across the room - Project Natal will have the issue of people actually beating the crap out of each other. Check out the 'announcement' video below.

Xbox 360 Sells 30 Million Units

Microsoft has just announced that they have sold 30 Million Xbox 360's and that they have 20 Million active users on Live. That means that out of the 30 Million 360's in the world, roughly 5 million have had a hardware failure and gotten the red ring of death (and that's being very generous). Another one of my laymen estimations put the number of racist homophobic tweens on Live at around 19.2 Million. Congratulations Microsoft you continue to successfully frustrate the world.

Major New Expansion Coming for Gears of War 2

Image Epic games is releasing a major expansion "All Fronts Collection" for Gears of War 2 on July 28th. Although I have my ear to the ground for most Xbox news, this seemed a surprise to me, I'd like to hear otherwise. Interestingly, this expansion is retail only and NOT going to be downloadable on Xbox Live, at least not at release time. Epic is claiming this package would be 3600 ($40) Microsoft points but will go for $19.99 US. What's cool about this expansion is that it includes extensions to the campaign as well as seven new multiplayer maps - the so-called Dark Corners map pack. It also includes all of the currently available map packs - Flashback, Combustible and the Snowblind. If you haven't bought these already then you might want to hold off if you plan to buy this expansion. The new campaign chapter is called "Road to Ruin" and is said to have been deleted from Gears of War 2. As you can see from the screen shot, Marcus is cross dressing as a Theron guard. Other goodies include an exclusive Gears of War 2 theme, strategy guide and poster.

Army of Two: 40th Day Trailer

Newest trailer for Army of Two: 40th Day was just released, although it plays out like a movie trailer for a really crappy action film, it does have some good looking in game footage. It's also covered in that Army of Two cheesy-ness that I guess in a weird way makes the game stand out. It'll be a fun title I'm sure but nothing to wait in line for.

Bionic Commando Demo is Live

Capcom's multiplayer demo for its forthcoming reimagining/reboot/retelling of Bionic Commando has just gone live. This demo is free to all Xbox Live Gold members. Sadly it will cost PS3 owners 299.00 dollars because this demo is currently a Xbox exclusive. The demo takes place on "Vertigo" (Half-Life deathmatches oh how I miss you), one of the game's 16 multiplayer maps. The multiplayer aspect of this game could give it legs. I can't wait to download this when they set me free from my caged cube. Happy swinging boys and girls.

Replicate NCAA March Madness with exclusive 360 download

EA has announced NCAA Basketball 09: March Madness Edition as an exclusive download for Xbox 360. Basically an add on that only features the intensity of March Madness. It'll be available for download on March 11th with last years teams then will update with this year's tournament teams, stats and ratings on March 18th. Sounds like a frat-boy wet dream - get your tournament pools ready.

Some more Lost Planet 2 for you

Monday Lost Planet 2 was announced exclusively through Xbox Live by Jun Takeuchi with a cool trailer of what to expect. Some more details about the game include 4 player co-op, new interlinked episodes and deep customization to really get players immersed. Story wise LP2 takes place 10 years after the original title and as you can tell by the trailer the frozen tundra of an environment has changed. The original hero Wayne Holden has been replaced by player's own customized snow pirates. Players will move through different stories creating unique adventures. This concept will allow players to experience the plot in a more dynamic way as it unfolds from various perspectives. Going by the trailer released the other day LP2 looks pretty epic.

Exclusive Red Xbox 360 Resident Evil Limited Edition Console

As another marketing ploy Microsoft has announced a Red Xbox 360 Resident Evil Limited Edition Console. I'm not sure who actually buys these limited edition systems but it's in celebration of the landmark series coming to Xbox. The limited edition console will be available the same day Resident Evil 5 ships to store shelves - Friday March 13th - and all the limited edition suckers can pick up the bundle. It's basically a red elite system with a copy of RE5. woo I guess the one up side is now the Red Ring of Death won't stand out as much. ooooo ouch.
