Mario Is A Sick F*ck

It's no secret that I'm a huge fan of TeeFury.com. You get a cool, limited availability t-shirt on the cheap. Most of their designs appeal to our sensibilities here at 8bit, but today's strikes particularly hard. Today's shirt, illustrating how Mario feels about woodland creatures is only available until midnight Eastern Standard Time. Jump on it before it's gone forever. [TeeFury]

Final Fantasy IV: The After Years DLC Available Today For WiiWare

Final Fantasy IV: The After Years

Square Enix has announced today new downloadable add-on content for Final Fantasy IV: The After Years will be available through WiiWare. Personally, Final Fantasy IV was the best Final Fantasy. Mostly because it was the only one I actually finished. The new content - The Crystals "The Planet Eater" - is available for 800 Wii Points and requires 17 blocks. To sum up the content...the world is 'cloaked' in darkness aka f**ked while Rydia and Edge search for their old friends. Meanwhile, across town King Cecil of Baron confronts Kain, Rosa, and Ceodore in his own castle. On top of all that the world is being laid to waste. $64,000 question: Can anything be done to stop the encroaching shit show? Who knows. Most likely if you play the game. Check out the official site for more info on Final Fantasy IV: The After Years.

Spore Franchise Coming to Nintendo This October

EA announced today that Spore Hero and Spore Hero Arena will be landing on the Wii and DS this October. Both titles were built from the ground up and exclusively for the Wii  and DS and look to bring a new level of action and adventure to the monstrous franchise. Spore Hero takes players on a quest to become the hero as they try to save their creature's home planet from being destroyed. Spore Hero Arena takes place in the same universe as Spore Hero but takes players on a quest to save planets in their own galaxy from an evil force. Arena is more of an expansion but has multiplayer capabilities allowing players to battle each other over wi-fi or up to three locally. For more info check out the official site

All Sorts of Resident Evil Coming to the Wii

Looks like Resident Evil is coming back to the Wii in the form of Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles along with some 'classic' RE titles. The Darkside Chronicles will be a sequel to Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles. Capcom is also planning on remakes of the Gamecube classics Resident Evil and RE: Zero exclusively for the Wii. Darkside Chronicles will be based on RE 2 and includes the popular characters Leon and Claire and plans to include a more in-depth co-op experience. All titles are set to hit North American retailers this winter. More info will be available in the coming months so pay attention. And there is an overabundance of the title Resident Evil in this post. Sorry I can't help myself when I get excited.

EA announces Dead Space Extraction for Wii

EA has announced today an all new chapter in the Dead Space saga. A Wii exclusive FPS, Dead Space Extraction will be a prequel that will reveal the events leading up to Isaac Clarke's mission on the USG Ishimura. The title will introduce a new heroine and all new characters that fall victim to a mysterious contagion aboard the ship. Along with new characters DSE will have new weapons, enemies, puzzles and a co-op multiplayer gameplay. EA Redwood Shores is behind the title and it's scheduled to ship in Fall 2009.

3D gaming is here!! On the Wii no less.

Data Design Interactive a successful publisher and developer unveiled the first 'REAL 3D' console game, by using stereoscopic glasses on the Nintendo Wii. The first title to be released is the upcoming game Battle Rage: The Robot Wars - which is based on a PC title developed by Destan Entertainment and produced by Teyon Games. Battle Rage is a third person shooter with elements of a beat 'em up game that allows a player to control giant robots in short, quick, brutal skirmishes alone, versus one, two or three opponents. Awesome. The game will offer a standard visual mode (lame) or the visually stunning 3D graphics mode (Awesome). Stewart Green CEO of Data Design said, " This is an exciting development which will really enhance the players experience. You can now feel you are inside the gameworld, by seeing real depth, objects flost in front of you or appear to jump out of the screen." OK. So whats the over under on number of seizures? Can't wait to see the warning lable on this one.

Go Ninja Go Ninja Go! New TMNT game to mark 25th anniversary

Our green friends in a half shell are back! Today Ubisoft has announced that it will launch an all new, original TMNT title as a "Shell-ebration" (no i did not come up with that) of their 25th anniversary. It will be the first TMNT game to not be tied in with a movie, comic book or TV show. The four player action fighting title is being developed by Game Arts - the team behind the critically acclaimed Super Smash Bros. Brawl for Wii. Scheduled to release in autumn 2009 along with toys, lunchboxes, keychains and TMNT flamethrowers.

If It Only Had A Battery...

Super Mario Stage 1-1: The Room

We here at [8bit] are generally fans of art installations. Antoinette J. Citizen (we're guessing that isn't her real name) has done a room over to look like the first stage in Super Mario, complete with working ? boxes and sounds from the game. We're thinking of using our bailout money (we are getting bailout money, right? everyone else is! ) on getting Antoinette up here to renovate our head office. Check out more pics of the project here or here. [NOTCOT.org]

If you're ever jonesing for some 8bit-inspired art, we can strongly recommend Dotter Dotter. It's the blog of Japanese team Tidori Design. They're always posting new shit. The site is in their native language, but you're just there to look at the pictures anyway.

Wiihabilitation

Yeah, you heard me. Wiihabilitation. What of it? Punk. Seriously though, sorry. It's just a terrible title. Moving on, Wii Fit is being used for some important rehabilitation work for people who are suffering from positional vertigo, think Lucille II from Arrested Development. Not only has the Wii helped people with this condition it has also been used in a study with cerebral palsy. The study found that "after four weeks of using the basic Wii system, the patient had better physical perception, posture, and would actually stand for longer periods of time." Please head over to pressofAtlanticCity.com for the full story, it's a great read.
